Surgical Elevators are listed among some fundamental surgical instruments. These elevators are multipurpose bone equipments used to elevate, dissect, or scrape bones. They are also used for tissues. There are majorly three kinds of Elevators, which are Periosteal Elevators, Root Elevators and Malar Elevator. Periosteal Elevators are utilized to strip portions of the membrane (periosteum) covering the outer surface of a bone. These kind of Elevators are used for trauma, spinal and other bone and soft tissue procedures and are known to be well balanced tools with enough hardness to maintain the sharp edges.
