This is particularly used for getting a three dimensional view of macro objects to record the details. It is based on incident light illumination rather trans-illumination that produces a clear view of the specimen under observation. It features two separate optical paths with two objectives and two eyepieces that accord marginally different viewing angles to the left and right eyes of observers. This type of microscope is suitable for examining macro specimens, such as crystals, plants, insects and delicate electronics.
