Six Position Microscope is the most uniquely designed microscope veritably dissimilar from other types of microscopes. Its construction allows it to move horizontally and take images from different positions, hence the name Six Position Microscope.
The microscope is mounted on a moveable carriage sliding on a thick metallic bar often curved inward in a hemi-spherical shape. The travelling instrument can be clamped at any position given the type of reading to be taken. It features a brass scale, which is graduated in mms and travels 15 mm vernier reading to 0.02 mm with the help of rack and pinion arrangement. The final readings are obtained with the help of a micrometer screw provided for the purpose. Six position microscopes consist of Ramsden Eyepiece crosswire and an achromatic objective.
