Porcelain Funnels are funnels made of white ceramic material for liquid pouring purpose in a laboratory. Porcelain funnels are similar in shape to a typical funnel but differs slightly in the upper part. The upper half of such funnels are shaped like a circular bowl with a perforated bed having miniscule holes for the fluids to trickle down the narrow pipe-like opening.
Porcelain funnels are resistant to acid and alkali. These can withstand sudden temperature changes without crack, explosions or deformation. The porcelain glazed funnels can sustain a temperature of around 1000oC under normal conditions. Owing to high resistance to heat and chemical substances, porcelain funnels are invariably used by scientists to pour down heated liquids into other containers.
