These are sealable containers with desiccants contained in it meant for the aforementioned purpose. One of the most common use of desiccators is to preserve chemicals which are hygroscopic in nature.

Dessicants are normally made of heavy glass and are circular in shape. However, Plastic Dessicants have grown in demand owing to its certain in-built features. Such dessicants are durable and less fragile than the glass ones. These are a lot cheaper than those made of glass. Dessicants usually features a removable platform on which the items to be stored are kept. The desiccant, often an inert solid such as silica gel, fills the space under the platform.
