A Cuvette is a piece of laboratory apparatus used to hold samples for spectroscopic experiments in labs. The cuvette is normally a small tube having a circular or square cross section with one end closed and the other end open. The device is very much similar to a test tube sealable at the open end using glass or other material like parafilm.

A useful tool in the lab, cuvette is made of different materials such as plastic, glass, or optical grade quartz. Plastic Cuvettes with excellent clarity are considered the best as it avoids misreading of spectroscopic data, which will be otherwise difficult to comprehend due to the presence of impurities. Plastic cuvettes are much durable as well as less expensive than the glass ones.
