Plastic Beaker is a piece of laboratory plasticware for containing, stirring and mixing liquids. The apparatus can be found in different grades of plastic and varying sizes as per the requirements in a chemistry lab. Usually, plastic beaker comes in various shapes thereof the most common shape is cylindrical with a spout or beak on the top that facilitate easy pouring of liquids. The materials used for manufacturing plastic beakers are primarily polythene, polypropylene and PTFE. A common use of polypropylene beaker is gamma spectral analysis of liquid and solid samples. The apparatus is graduated for estimating the volume of liquids. Although for accurate measurement of volume, a graduated or volumetric flask is more suitable.
