Videoscopes are advanced type of borescope that houses a very small CCD (Charged-couple Device) chip incorporated into the tip of the scope. The device is used for videography purpose by professionals or amateurs. In such a device, the video image is relayed from the distal tip and focusable lens assembly back to the display through internal wiring. Videoscopes produce superlative quality images than a fiberscope, akin to the image quality of a high-end video camcorder.

Videoscopes come in varying dimensions; the diameters are normally up to 10 mm and length up to 50 ft. The device boasts of several integral features including the insertion probe section, the articulated tip, articulation controls on the control handle, lighting bundle, high intensity external light source and cable interface with outputs to the display (LCD or CRT). The videoscope usually records either live video or still photos.
